  • Blogging is not writing. It’s graffiti with punctuation.

This is a quote from the movie Contagion. Elliot Gould plays scientist, Ian Sussman, in the film. You want to know what I say to that statement. Bullsh*t! As a contributor to a few organizations, I have the pleasure of working with editors and supporters that give me extremely useful and productive feedback that not only improves my writing, but my critical thinking skills. Admittedly, I love the quote because there are many bloggers who exhibit poor grammar, diction, syntax, and…

  • What I write does not reproduce me, it re-defines me…

Totally not me…all Jeanette Winterson. After a pretty brain draining weekend and much-needed rest, I’m back and trying to catch up and hoping to hit the publish button on a couple of pieces I’ve been neglecting working on for a couple of weeks. I’ve been studying (and doing lots of independent research). I’m not even in grad school (yet). So, what gets me back into writing mode? It’s simple. Reading. In Winterson’s essay, Writer, Reader, Words, I found a rather illuminating…

  • Brain in Hibernation (still)

Taking a bit of a break for the next couple of days from any art related posts. With a lot on my mind and deadlines to meet, the brain really does need to rest. I also need to change that inner light bulb that Kubler-Ross is talking about. It needs to be one of those corkscrew sustainable bulbs. Oh, and, last thing: Sleep is not for dead people. It’s for the living. Seriously.

  • Brain in Hibernation

People are like stained-glass windows.  They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within. ~ Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Psychiatrist

  • Hella More Funner

Please consider spending this coming Friday evening at Wire + Nail Gallery. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to hang out and eat pizza with artists, Sam Fuchs and Adam Gray. Smart guys who make art fun?! Yeah, you know you want some of that. Something to look forward to (besides the pizza)? Fuchs and Gray painting with web code and making a, well, hella impressive collage (from web code).

  • The Nothing Box

Please help spread the word about my friend and artist, Stephen Stout’s, latest work, The Nothing Box. You can learn more about his project and how you can help him meet his goal via his Kickstarter page by clicking here. Stephen’s video goes into the inspiration for the piece, the making of The Nothing Box, and the overall concept. The completion date of this large-scale installation is scheduled for November 2011. It’s an incredible piece and I’m a backer on the project! Hoping you can…
