We Feel Fine is on exhibit at the Adobe Museum of Digital Media. First, I’m utterly smitten and enthralled with data visualization work. Harris and Kamvar created this project back in 2005 and wanted to show the world’s feelings, individually and collectively, to showcase the human condition in a way that was both engaging and begs the question of whether we are truly alone in the way we feel. The answer is yes (and no). As unique as we all are, there are universal ideas/concepts/feelings humans…

Now, imagine the spam above used to create art. A few posts back, I shared a performance/video art based on spam messaging. This time around, I wanted to post about artist, Alex Dragulescu. He’s been featured on c|net and USA Today. His art has been around for some time but it’s so àpropos considering my recent obsession fascination with the messages filtered as spam via my (blog) comments inbox. Spam is spam but every now and again, I receive a…

Being a Rhizome member certainly has its benefits. For some time, I only had a username and password, which didn’t do much. I couldn’t add art events, I was unable to add new artists as favorites to my profile, and couldn’t really engage with other Rhizome members. Last month, I finally decided to give Rhizome my $25 to get my virtual hands on some artwork and the ability to leave comments on some well written critical pieces on art and technology. In any case, The Download (available to members…

It is wrong to say that in philosophy we consider an ideal language as opposed to our ordinary one. For this makes it appear as though we thought we could improve on ordinary language. But ordinary language is all right. Whenever we make up ‘ideal languages’ it is not in order to replace our ordinary language by them; but just to remove some trouble cause in someone’s mind by thinking that he has got hold of the exact use of…

An incredible exhibition of new media and interactive art at the New York Museum of Modern Art. I took an insane amount of photos but wanted to share the pieces that stood out. All of the works were impressive but this would be a ridiculously long post. Please feel free to comment and/or ask questions start a dialogue. Enjoy!!! SMSlingshot was made from the following: high-frequency radio, Arduino board, laser, batteries, plywood, and ash wood. The SMSlingshot marries a traditional weapon…

Although I’m not too particularly fond of the name, iPhone application, Hipster, offers the end user the ability to send postcards virtually. In a matter of seconds, I was able to create a nifty postcard of our descent onto La Guardia Airport! Once you select a photo, you pick your postcard theme, flip the postcard around, write your loved one a message (yes, there’s a character limit), and send! Easy but, unfortunately, you can’t send it unless the person is…

In times of crisis only creativity is more important than knowledge. Albert Einstein, Scientist Or, as Espacio Enter Canarias site states in Spanish, “En los momentos de crisis sólo la creatividad es más importante que el conocimiento.” (Still Albert Einstein, of course). According to the site, the meeting is an International Meeting of Creativity Innovation & Digital Culture, which may interest some of you dear readers. Apparently, the Espacio organization has put out a call for participants (speakers, etc.) that…
