  • New Language: Englyph

Tim Roseborough’s language, Englyph, puts a different perspective on text-based art. At first, it’s difficult to envision Englyph as synonymous with English because it’s rather foreign (literally). As Roseborough explains in his piece, Notes In/troducing Englyph, the aim is to take what we know and make it into something we don’t know. Truthfully, if Englyph were the only mode of communication, I’m sure the reader would begin to create and affix meaning to the characters over time. Yet, who wants to brave this…

  • Spread, Part IV – George Legrady + Angus Forbes

Photo by: Dorothy Santos I’ve heard that anybody can be a photographer these days. I’m sure you’ve heard this as well. From SLRs to point-and-shoots to our mobile phones, people with mobile devices have the ability to make anyone a photographer. Inevitably, this leads to artists having to re-construct and re-purpose such a medium. Anyone can take a picture but how does an artist show, through photography, elements of how we live, who we interact with, and how we know things through contemporary photography? The photo…

  • David Hockney and his iPhone/iPad Artwork

David Hockney is like Radiohead. He just evolves and gets better over time (but was great to begin with). In any case, read about his iPhone/iPad art exhibition here.

  • Art Project powered by Google

Everyone uses Google, well, almost everyone… I know I use Google (as a search engine, my e-mail, etc.) so it was amazing to see their latest addition to the Google applications – Art Project! Granted, I’d much rather see the musuems of the world in person but if I can’t spend the money to go to Madrid, Paris, or London, I can pay AP a visit and see what is on exhibit! I’ll have to explore and ruminate about this…

  • New Media Art

It’s been a relatively relaxing new year’s weekend but as I prepare for the week, I’m pondering what I’m hoping to achieve, art and writing wise, this year. As the subject line states, New Media Art, has definitely piqued my interest. I love traditional art (for me, traditional art includes drawing, painting, and sculpture, pretty much all things ocular) but one of the many things I love about art is the nature to evolve into something different that pushes the…
